Wish you also have a BBM PIN you can share to your BlackBerry-user friends? Well now you can if you’re using an Android or iOS device as BlackBerry just made their popular messaging service available to other platforms.
Before Viber, Line, KakaoTalk, iMessage, and WeChat, BBM or BlackBerry Messenger was the premiere mobile messaging service around and it was exclusive to BlackBerry users. Now, you can enjoy it even on your Android or iOS device. What’s nice about BBM is that it uses a PIN so you don’t have to give out your number or e-mail to your contacts.
BBM is also more than just for sending messages through the internet. You can share files such as photos and voice notes with it. You can also do group chats of up to 30 people. It also features Updates which is like your timeline in Facebook where you can post status updates and messages.
Download BlackBerry on Google Play for Android or App Store for iOS. Beware of the fake ones on Google Play. There’s plenty of them there.
Last night almost all my friends had put up thier FB status as " My BBM pin is : ......."
But unfortunately ,
It’s no secret that BlackBerry is going through some tough times and the launch of its popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) on Android and iOS platforms was seen as an important moment for the Canadian company. But what has transpired in the last 18 hours can be described as messy at best as BlackBerry missed the launch date for the Android variant as the APK got leaked online and then removed the iOS version from the App Store.
To douse the growing anger among Android users, BlackBerry finally released a statement on its blog. “Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online,” BlackBerry’s Luke Reimer wrote in the blog. “Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.”
Adding more salt to the wound, BlackBerry released the iOS variant and many IPhone users, including yours truly, were able to download the app from the App Store last night. But it has been taken down from the App Store as BlackBerry deals with backend issues. In the meantime though, those who managed to download the iPhone app last night will still be able to continue using it.
Now the question comes what about Windows phone users?
Seeing the over exceding traffic received by Android and iOS users they had yet not disclosed any future plans for Windows with BBM.
