Tech N9ne Talks Visiting Lil Wayne In Jail, Losing A Jay Z Feature, & Devil Worship

Posted by Unknown Senin, 29 Juli 2013 0 komentar

Tech N9ne Speaks on visiting Lil Wayne, nearly getting a Jay Z feature, and the assumption that he worships the devil.
Tech N9ne is getting ready to drop his new album Something Else, tomorrow, so the eccentric rapper stopped by Power 105's The Breakfast Club to talk about the project as well as working with Lil Wayne, almost getting a Jay Z feature, and the rumor that he is a devil worshiper.
Tech spoke on being within the top 3 touring artists at one point in his career. "Yeah it was like Kanye, Jay-Z and me," he said, detailing his touring hustle. "It's been under the radar for a long time. What a lot of artists don't realize is that if you want to be the hip hop president, you gotta get out their and politic. How do we politic through music? We go out and tour."
While the rapper has been known for his status as an independent artist, he explained that he went through a lot of major label drama before choosing to go indie. "My first deal was 1993 with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis," he revealed, "'97 was Quincy Jones, Qwest and Warner, and after that it was Interscope and JCOR."
"After that I went through so much bull with the majors." Tech said of his disappointment with the system. They wanted me to be a drone. They wanted me to do what everyone else is doing. But I was always to the left, I was always strange. There's always been a hint of rock n roll with my hip hop, know what I'm sizzlin?"
N9ne then went on to describe the genesis of Strange Music, his own label. "I met my partner Travis O'Guin like late 99 in Kansas. He said he was a big fan of my music, and he was already a self-made millionaire from a furniture business. So we did a join-venture, and we started Strange Music. I named it Strange Music because I'm a big Doors fan, word to Jim Morrison... it took a lot to do it but we did it. Thank the lord that it worked and it's still working."
On the perception that he is a devil worshiper, the rapper responded, "Everybody thought that. People fear what they don't understand, and what they can't control. If I come out hear and I've got facepaint on, to me-- I look like more like my ancestors than most of these people. If this is a cult I'm leading, the message I'm sharing is love, not hate."
"The imagery is strong." Tech said of the understandable confusion around his persona. "When you look at the new album cover, there's a fiery crown on my head, but it's also a transparent heart with wings. It means evil brain, angel heart."
The Strange Music emcee also let go of some details around his first time meeting Lil Wayne, after Weezy revealed in an interview from Riker's Island that he was looking to work with Tech. "'Did he just say Tech N9ne?' he ain't never met me, I ain't ever met Wayne, but he'd been a fan of me since the Wake Up Show, me doing the anthem."
"I went up to Rikers to say thank you, and we talked for like 3 hours" he revealed, "and that's how I got on Tha Carter IV.
The Something Else rapper shed some light on a failed collaboration with Jay-Z as well, hinting that WTT 2 is already in the works. "I was supposed to send him a beat, because I know his engineer, Mike Dean. They were working on Watch The Throne 2 in Africa or something. So I emailed Mike Dean, like 'I've got this song called “That's My Kid” with Big K.R.I.T. And Cee-Lo' and I know he just had Blu. But I ran out of time, I had to put my album together, so I didn't get to send it to him."

2 Chainz Talks Dumbing Down Music, Running During Robbery, T.R.U. University Label

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 18 Juli 2013 0 komentar

2 Chainz comments on his subject matter, "B.O.A.T.S. II," running during the robbery and more.
2 Chainz' winning streak hasn't stopped yet, after a very successful debut album in 2012, the rapper is ready for another hit in 2013, with B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, dropping on September 10th. It's not like the rapper needs the money at this point, after hopping on just about every song last year, Tity Boi recently confirmed that he charges $100,000 a verse now, so hard work really does pay off.
Thus far, we've only heard the single "Feds Watching" featuring Pharrell and in a new interview with the Village Voice, 2 Chainz is nowhere near ready to divulge the rest of the album's features, although he does confirm that the LP is in the mixing stages. He does say there will be "14 more of those [tracks]" referring to "Feds Watching" so we could assume the album has fifteen cuts. The Atlanta native also speaks on the robbery in San Francisco, advising people to run when there are guns, and dumbing down his music and finally reveals he has some projects dropping on his own imprint, T.R.U. University, although he names no names.
Check out a few excerpts below.
What up 2 Chainz? Pardon the intrusion. You must be busy working on B.O.A.T.S. 2.
No that's pretty much done. I'm just finishing up the mixing. I'm adding a few samples, taking away a few samples. I'm still arranging the album too and also getting the credits right to make that side of the business is taken care of.
What do you say to the critics who think your subject matter isn't varied enough? I mean, I can tell when I speak to you you're a smart dude. Do you dumb your shit down?
My answer to the critics is this, and I quote: Smart people can act dumb but dumb people can't act smart. That goes to every critic that doesn't know I never made a C in high school, just A's and B's. It just so happens I have an understanding about real life. Where I'm from no one wants Jesse Jackso--they want a nigga that tells it like it is. Strippers and dope dealers who ride foreign cars. I take [listeners] on a walk though that neighborhood, through that lifestyle. When I came in the game with "Duffle Bag Boyz," I was already wearing Gucci. That's how I came in the game. This album, of course, it's some growth. I'm talking about prosperity more but I'm not going to stop talking real shit that we see on the news. So all those critics can miss me with that shit.
Robberies also come with fame and money sometimes too. You caught some heat for running from those gun men in that video, but any one from the hood knows there's no arguing with a gun. You should quit the scene ASAP.
Let me tell you something. Anybody that tells you they wouldn't run hasn't been in situations like me. I've been a felon since I was 15. Most kids at that age might still be sleeping in the same bed with their siblings. I'm trying to grow to be a wiser person. If you heard shots in Manhattan, Pablo, what would you do?
Run.
Exactly. But you know I learned from the experience and like I said I'm striving to be a wiser person.
So what's next for you?
T.R.U. University label is my focus. Have some projects coming out on that. I'm just looking to be competitive. I got that sports edge on these fools. I eat well, get my cardio in. I want it all! I'm amicable with people, but I want everybody up outta here. I want it all!

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 16 Juli 2013 0 komentar

Game spoke to #CRACK360 about his favorite cartoons growing up, as well as opening up about what he had learned from his children.
Game has a very good relationship with his children, and is often very vocal about it, including recently warning other parents of a nanny he felt mistreated his kids. HotNewHipHop got a chance to talk to the rapper about his children, and got into what he had learned from them, as well as his favorite cartoons growing up.
"Definitely the Simpsons, Simpsons is crazy." Game said of his favorite animated series. "Family Guy is always dope, King Of The Hill, Beavis and Butthead." The Compton rapper then dropped a couple vintage picks from his childhood. "We gotta take it way back to Transformers, Thundercats, Go Bots, Tom and Jerry, Speedy Gonzalez..."
Game then spoke of how obsessed his daughter is with TV. "She's 2 years old but she stays up 'til like one or two in the morning, and she throws a fit if you cut the TV off the Disney channel," he said.
The Operation Kill Everything emcee went on to reveal how his children have changed his life. "My kids have taught me to be a little bit more kind, loving, and just have open arms for positivity. Before I ever had a kid, my life was so negative and so was I. Everything I did had to have some type of negative aspect. Ever since Harlem was born and then King, and Cali-- I'm in love with them. I love them there are the inspiration and motivation for everything I do."
