Android 4.4 KitKat Makes Its Debut On The Android Platform Versions Chart, Claims 1.1% Of It
Since the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat‘s highly anticipated release into the proverbial wild, we’ve been wondering what kind of penetration the new Android build has made in the wider community. The Android Developers have answered this question with their monthly survey of the Android device population and it says that KitKat has taken 1.1% of the Android Platform Versions chart.
It’s pretty impressive to see the distribution progressively shifting more and more towards Jelly Bean, however, it’s disappointing not to see a larger percentage of devices on Android 4.3. This will likely be in large part due to the delay of Android 4.3 rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which I’m sure would account for at least a percent or two, as well as plenty of other devices where Android 4.3 is being prepared for release soon.
Hopefully at the Android Platform Versions chart’s next update in the New Year, we’ll be seeing an even greater number of devices have migrated to Android 4.3 and Android 4.4. We can only hope…
What do you think of these distribution results? Let us know in the comments.
